No substitute for experience

So, tonight I went with Tadge to take some photos. He is practicing to be a pro-photographer, and shoots with exclusively large-format film (4x5 inch), but anyway I thought I would go with him and see what I could catch with my Olympus E1 digital.

So we drove down to the "Gaikan" - a kind of highway around Tokyo...

..here are a few of the results....

What the??

About time I posted something here I suppose. If you drop by and there's absolutely nothing, well, that's pretty crap, isn't it.

Here's an interesting picture I found in someone else's blog while doing some research for a game map I am creating.

Is it a Martian colony? No, just a drain somewhere in Japan.

Yep.

Halloween

Tomo and I went to a Halloween party with some friends last night. Tomo went as a Genie (no photos yet).

I went as....well....

Twas a fun party :)

I made it into the finalists for best costume..but got out-applauded by an African American guy with a blonde wig and big tits. Meh.

Some Images of Japan

I have recently purchased an Olympus E1 SLR Digital camera and lens set. Still don't really know exactly what I am doing with it. Here are a few photos from the last few days.

Mr. Miyagi, I presume?

Surely the work of my mother.

Gotta love a bughunt.

Dead computer

Well, my desktop box / server is totally stuffed. Needs a new processor, probably graphics card and maybe motherboard. So there's mikedonovan.net down the drain for the time being.

Been pretty busy lately....got my Japanese driver's license last week.....got my new car today, moving house next weekend.

That's all for now....

Can't sleep

I am typing this in just the light from the computer screen. Can't sleep - my sleeping patterns have been f****d lately. I think its the weird seasons here....firstly the spring, with all the pollens floating around causing havoc, but also lately the increasing humidity. A couple of weeks ago I got a cold...that's fine....it was a kind of respiratory tract infection. Anyway the phlegmy part passed, but this shart cough remained.... I am not coughing often during a day, but when I do it is violent....and I can't breathe. Went back to a different doctor (specialist), who tells me my aesophagus is a bit inflamed and swollen, so when I cough like that it closes up, stopping me from breathing for a little while....which is pleasant as you can imagine. I have medicine, so next time I write here I should be back in the World of the Normal Breathers. Woopee!!!!

New Website!!

I have finally started work on a new homepage.
It's looking pretty sexy, but not too much content yet...working on that.

Be sure to visit!! .... mikedonovan.net
And you can record your merciless bagging of it for posterity in the comments for this blog entry.

By the way, the banner image of Mount Fuji is a panorama shot which I sewed together from photos I took with Tomo on our trip there in early 2005.

New School Year

Start of the new school year at Yono Nishi Chu Gakko (Yono West Middle School) today. I turned up this morning and the whole staff room had changed. I'd forgotten to prepare myself for that. About 9 staff had changed (including pretty much all of the ones I would call friends), and the rest had changed desks. So my friends Kato Sensei and Oka Sensei have moved on, and also the animated Minami Sensei and Fukuda Sensei. Basically the youngies replaced with older versions. The place now resembles a morgue more than ever.

Oh well, it's Friday today, so we're off to Riki tonight, to drink our troubles away. Shawna's Canadian Mom is apparently coming, and there should be a few there. Looking forward to it.

Scotch and soda on a Friday afternoon....courtesy of a Bigfooty thread Posted by Hello

Well, let's join the phenomenon...

Ok, so I've heard about blogging, read a few blogs here and there, but it didn't really seem like me. Until now. Today i downloaded google's Picasa 2 image organising software (which looks awsesome so far), and the Getting Started pages for Picasa were going on about how easy it was to upload images to a blog site. Couple that with the fact that for aaaaaaaaaaaaaages I have wanted to create some kind of personal website with more content than my current one, and I thought "Hey, what the hell, let's Blog!" :)

So let the show begin....
